Things & Stuff #2

Sunday, 27 November 2016
'Things & Stuff' is where I share the...emm...things and stuff that I've been enjoying recently.  I wrote the first one back in May with the intention of it becoming a monthly series.  That went well...!

  • Exciting news to start off with....we've bought a house!  It's a new build and should be ready for us to move in in January (we were originally hoping to be in before Christmas, but it kept getting delayed, as is the norm for new properties it seems!).   It's fairly close to where my parents live so we've been getting regular photo updates as the build progresses - it's been fun seeing it develop from a literal pile of bricks to an actual house with windows and doors!  At the moment they are working on the inside, and I can't wait to get in and see what it's like.  We've gone for a townhouse, so there's 3 floors, with a living room, kitchen/dining room, and WC on the ground floor, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the 1st floor, and a master bedroom with ensuite and dressing room on the 2nd floor.  Considering we currently live in a small 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom flat, it's going to be quite the change - and we've got so much stuff to buy!  So yes, link me your favourite interior/furniture websites in the comments please.

  • My pal and fellow blogger Gillian from Elevatormusik has recently started a similar series to this one called This and That.  I used to love her Sunday Summary posts so I'm looking forward to more life update posts. My old fave Hannah Gale is also doing something similar called Weekly Charts.  Yay to the return of old school blogging!

  • Look who's back.  Back again.  My camera's back.  Tell a friend. (Thanks to John Lewis replacing the lens kit!)

  • I loved this 20 Amazing Facts About Periods article on Betty.  I can definitely relate to a couple, particularly #4 - I am SO CLUMSY during my period, so I'm glad to hear this is an actual thing and not just me being a dropper.

  • On the subject of periods, I want to give a shout out to a few Youtubers who have been creating some great period-positive content recently.  Hannah Witton has her Hormone Diaries series where she discusses topics like contraception and smear tests, fellow Scottish Youtuber Erin does her Week in the Life of a Period vlogs, and Tara has a similar series called Shark Week.  Go girls!

  • My current TV obsession is The Missing. Is anyone else watching it?  I enjoyed the first series but I think this second series is so much better - I don't know what the hell is going on, and I love it.  I haven't watched this week's episode yet though so NO SPOILERS THANK YOU PLEASE.

  • Did you know that Iceland sell frozen baked potatoes? Sounds mental, but trust me - they are a revelation.  5 mins in the microwave and they taste like proper oven cooked, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, baked tatties.  Needless to say we're eating baked potatoes with every meal now.
