Glasgow Review: Kothel Grill House

Tuesday, 29 November 2016

This weekend Blair and I popped through to Glasgow for lunch, after being recommended a place called Kothel Grill House thanks to CitizenMag.

Tucked away under the arches right next to Central Station, you'd be forgiven for walking past Kothel Grill House without realising it was even there.  It's a tiny tiny TINY wee quirky deli style cafe - the description in CitizenMag's review was of a "troll's house under the bridge" which is so true, it feels like you're dining in a Grimms fairy tale.  I don't mean that in a negative way btw - I'm all for interesting spaces!

They serve the usual deli fare of sandwiches, soups, and baked potatoes as well as American style burgers, hotdogs, and grilled cheese. I went for a Manhattan burger which had onion, pastrami and Swiss cheese and was niiiiice (the chunky chips got a thumbs up too), while Blair went for the Ruben grilled cheese which also had pastrami and sauerkraut.  Although he wasn't so keen on his purely due to the fact that the bread had mayo on it and he hates it with a passion.

If you're getting the train from Central I'd definitely recommend popping in for a quick lunch (service was really fast), or to grab a cake for the journey.  We bought a slice of Red Velvet and a Caramel Shortcake to take away and they were so good!
