A few weekends' ago Blair and I were kindly invited to stay at the Edinburgh Novotel, to indulge in a little staycation in our own city. It had been a busy few weeks at work for both of us, and with our summer holiday still feeling like an age away (we're back now though, waaaah) it was the ideal way to relax.
We were staying in an Executive Room which was absolutely huuuuge - check out all this space! The windows looked out onto a quiet street below, with a view of Edinburgh Castle just to the left.
After checking into our room we immediately changed into our swimwear and headed down to the pool area. If you've read my honeymoon post from last year you'll know that we enjoyed a little daily routine of steam, sauna and pool, and neither of us had been at a spa since so this was the perfect opportunity to relive our days in Rhodes!
The hotel is located just off Lothian Road and only a few minutes walk from the Bruntsfield area. As we live in the complete opposite side of town it's not an area we venture to that often, so I was looking forward to trying somewhere new for dinner. I'd spotted a restaurant called The Apartment a few times on my bus journey home from choir and thought it looked pretty nice, so this was our choice for the evening. The food was great and I loved the intimate atmosphere, would definitely recommend!
The next morning we had a bit of a long lie in our comfy bed before popping downstairs for breakfast where we were impressed by the choice on offer at the buffet, with plenty continental and cooked options.
And just like that, our wee staycation was over - a short but sweet (and much needed) break from the usual routine. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was - I haven't ever stayed in a Novotel before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was great. The room was clean, had lots of space, a very comfy bed, and surprisingly quiet given it's central location. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try next time you're looking for a hotel in Edinburgh.
I vlogged the stay too if you fancy a watch!
