Cream Eyeshadows: High St vs High End

Thursday, 11 February 2016

As I've mentioned a few times recently, I've been on the hunt for a decent cream eyeshadow on the high street that I can use as an alternative to my much loved By Terry Ombre Blackstar.  I've found quite a few recently though so thought I'd do a round up post for you.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar - Bronze Moon - £29
So the high end first - which is the afore mentioned By Terry Ombre Blackstar.  I absolutely love this!  It's barely been off my eyes since I bought it last year (and then repurchased at Christmas after my last one melted on my honeymoon!).  It's a beautiful bronze colour which is really flattering with my skin tone and eye colour.  The formula is really creamy and glides and blends so easily.  It stays in place all day and is pretty easy to remove at the end of the day.

Now onto the high street alternatives...

Let's get this one out of the way first.  On the swatch it looks like a pretty decent dupe for By Terry Bronze Moon buuuuut the consistency of the product is rubbish.  It's so hard that I had to rub it like 10 times on the back of my hand to get it to show up.  Imagine using that on your eyelids....  No thank you!

The consistency of this is really creamy so it's a much nicer product to use.  The only thing I wasn't that keen on is the colour as it's a bit too orangey for my liking.  If you like a more orangey bronze though then this might work for you.  Apart from the colour, I really like the formula, it blends nicely and has good staying power.

I was recommended the No7 pencils by a few people in the comments on my Latest Beauty Purchases video, as they said it was a good dupe for Ombre Blackstar.  My friend Roisin let me swatch hers when we were out for dinner the other weekend and I was sold.  Cool Mink is a really decent dupe, albeit slightly lighter than Bronze Moon.  The staying power might be even better than By Terry, as you can see in the smudged photo below - if you want to blend this bad boy then you'd better be quick!

Rimmel Magnif'eyes Double Ended Shadow & Liner - Queens of the Bronzed Age - £6.99
I've left my favourite till last....oh my this is so good!  The colour isn't like Bronze Moon at all, it's more of a richer chocolatey brown but it blends soooo nicely and is so creamy and pigmented, I love it!  Also, bonus - the other end is a beautiful gold/champagne colour which I've been using under my bottom lashes with the brown on my eyelids.  I definitely recommend giving this one a try!
