60's Inspired Look

Saturday, 13 February 2016
To celebrate the arrival of the Hairspray UK tour in Edinburgh, today I'm sharing a 60's inspired makeup look. This was surprisingly easy to put together and I can see how you could tone it down / up depending on the occasion.

Here's my tips for achieving that 60's look!

The 60's were all about the eyes, so think gorgeous fluttery lashes and statement flicked eyeliner.  I am such a novice when it comes to liquid eyeliner, so if you want some tips here I'd suggest you check out my friend Lynseys post here as she is an absolute pro at the cat eye flick!  One tip I do have though is to draw a dot with a kohl pencil where you want your flick to end, that way you have a guide when drawing the line.  Also I found that drawing the line with kohl first and then going over with a liquid liner made things a lot easier!

You don't really need a lot of eyeshadow for this look but I did add some of the By Terry Ombre cream shadow stick in the crease to give my eyes a bit of definition.

For that full 60's lash look you'll need a pair of false eyelashes - I went for Fleur Loves from the Fleur De Force Eylure range (these are the ones I wore on my wedding day!).  I am normally rubbish at adding false eyelashes but I managed it first time today - woo hoo!  If you're wanting to take inspiration from the 60's for your day to day look then you could skip the falsies and just use plenty mascara.  Don't forget the bottom lashes too - if you want to go 'full Twiggy' then you could draw these in with liquid liner!

As it's all about the eyes, all you need is a nude lip to finish off the look.  I went for Mac Creme Cup with a nude Maybelline gloss over the top.  So Brigitte Bardot!
