My Statement Necklace Collection

so jazzy

Over the years I've amassed quite the collection of statement jewellery, and I love nothing more than dressing up an outfit with a jazzy necklace.  Whilst tidying up my wardrobe recently (which is where my necklaces are stored, on an old coat hanger, fancy) I had the idea of writing this blog post as I thought it would be fun to give you a little peek into my collection.  Like I said, it's a collection I've gathered over the course of a couple of years, so I don't think any of these are still in the shops (hence no links), so apologies if you wanted to buy any of them!

New Look
This is one of the latest additions to my collection and I bought it after I'd purchased this beaut of a playsuit from Primark, as I knew it would match really well.  I've wanted a bright yellow necklace for about a year, I remember there was one in Zara that a couple of bloggers/youtubers had last year (it looked like lego bricks?) but it was quite expensive* so I couldn't bring myself to buy it.

I have had a bit of a disaster with this already though as one of the strings snapped - just randomly as I was sitting at my desk at work and beads started rolling down into my bra.  I managed to save it though by tying it back together and restringing the runaway beads.

*By expensive, I mean like over £15, so your definition might be different!

These two necklaces have fairly similar colours so I tend to wear them with my Primark tartan dress, and they are nice and wintery.  The New Look one was a Christmas present from my sister and is a bib style which is probably my favourite type of statement necklace.

Another example of a necklace disaster, as you can see a bunch of the hanging bits at the bottom have snapped off.  The necklace actually arrived in the post with one of the bits broken off in the parcel, and one of the others snapped off a few days later.  I probably should have sent it back when it arrived damaged, but it was in the sale and I couldn't really be bothered with the hassle.

As much as I love New Look for necklaces, it's actually the only place I've ever had quality issues. As well as the yellow one above and this, I had a third New Look necklace, which was neon rope with gold bunting, and the glue that secured the rope to the metal fastener just completely fell apart one day.  Pretty annoying, but it hasn't stopped me buying jewellery from New Look as I think they have some of the best designs on the high street.  But yeah, try sort out your quality issues folks!

I've photographed this necklace paired with the outfit that I normally wear it with - bright blue jeans and a black t-shirt.  I do love the look of this necklace, but it is quite uncomfortable to wear as there's a bit of a sharp edge to the fastener.

Another one of those bib style necklaces that I mentioned liking so much, this was an absolute bargain in the January sales (was £18, reduced to £7) and is one of my most worn items.  I love the bright colours and it totally brights up an outfit, like this shirt and jumper combo.

Which is your favourite?  Also, where do you recommend for cool statement necklaces, as I feel like I stick to the same old places on the high street so I'm sure I'm missing out on some great independent stores.
