Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel Review | Reviews-Day Tuesday

Tuesday, 7 January 2014

For my first Reviews-Day Tuesday of 2014 I'm reviewing the Clarins Pure Melt Cleaning Gel.  I bought this just after Christmas when I was on the John Lewis website picking my new camera.  It had been on my skincare Christmas wishlist, and I'd been meaning to try it for a while after reading a couple of good reviews. I've been using this for overa a week now and it's become a staple part of my evening skincare routine.  Normally I'd wait a bit longer before writing a review but I was pretty much won over by this after the first use!

As the name suggests, it's a gel cleanser that melts on your skin - it goes on as a gel then when you massage it in it turns into an oil, then when you add water it becomes milky and you can wash it off.  I like using this in the evening because I feel like the gel/oil formula is dissolving away all the grime from the day and it leaves my skin feeling really fresh and clean and soft to the touch.

I don't use it to take off my makeup, I do that with my L'Oreal micellar water first, but it does help make sure every last bit of makeup has been removed.  I love giving this a long time to work on my skin so I tend to apply the gel, massage it in for around 2 minutes whilst it's at the oily stage then leave for about another few minutes (usually while I brush my teeth) before adding the water and rinsing off.  As I said above it leaves my skin feeling really clean and so lovely and soft that I usually end up stroking my cheek like a weirdo for the next half hour.  Also it doesn't leave the skin feeling dry or tight at all which is great.

At £19.50 it's not cheap but it's on par with my favourite REN cleansers so I don't feel like it's overly pricey and would certainly repurchase.  If you're looking for a cheaper alternative though then the No7 Melting Gel Cleanser which I reviewed aaaaages ago is also great.

  1. Great review, going to dig this cleanser out and use it tonight, had forgotten how good it is!

  2. This has been on my wishlist for aaaages! I have the nspa version but I'm sure the real deal would be even better. I think I might have to pick this up soon... xx
