Five Years

Thursday, 8 August 2013
Today marks me and my boyfriends' 5 year anniversary. It simultaneously feels much less than that and so much longer. I can still remember the early days like they were yesterday, like our first date (the one where he took me to see the sweariest comedian at the Edinburgh festival), or excitedly moving into our first flat together a short 6 months later (the one with the big balcony and the sea view), or going on our first trip together (the one in Newcastle where we felt all fancy in our hotel wearing big white dressing gowns and ordering room service). At the same time it feels like it's been so much longer than 5 years - I feel like I've known him forever, and can't imagine a future without him.

I love that our anniversary is the 8th of the 8th (we actually met for our first date at 8pm on the 8th of August 2008 - my geeky side loves this fact). We're going to celebrate tonight by going to see the new Alan Partridge film (loooosers) but then we're celebrating properly at the weekend by staying at a fancy new hotel in Pitlochry (sooo excited!).

I thought it would be nice to do something special on my blog to tie in with this exciting milestone so let me introduce my new series for August...."The Big Five". Watch this space for lots of "top 5" lists ranging from "my top 5 lipsticks", to "my top 5 dresses", to "my top 5 friends episodes" as well as some relationship related ones like "our top 5 holidays".

To kick things off I thought I'd pick some photo highlights from the last 5 years. It's funny how the "selfies" decline over the years - I have tons from our first year together yet there are only a handful from 2013 so far. Will need to make sure we take lots on our holiday in September to make up for it.

2 months in - off to a Halloween party

1 year in - at a Saturdays concert in Glasgow

2 years in - visiting Bridge of Allan for my birthday

3 years in - at my cousins wedding

4 years in - on holiday in Paris

nearly 5 years - on a day trip at Lauriston Castle
