Games Night

Wednesday, 20 March 2013
Last weekend I had the flat to myself so decided to invite some friends over for a night in with a takeaway, drinks and some games.  Oh what a rock and roll lifestyle I lead!

It's nice to have nights like this occasionally, rather than us going out and spending a fortune on drinks, sitting in bars where the music is so loud you can barely have a conversation (god I sound old) and then having to stand in a queue of drunks waiting on an overpriced taxi home.  Instead we got to sit on comfy sofas in comfy clothes, drink wine, play board games and have a proper chat.

how's my hand?

The nice folks at BGO had sent me over a Texas Hold 'Em Poker set, pizza vouchers and an Oceans 11 DVD to kick off our games night so we ordered pizza, poured some wine, had a quick read of the rules and tried our hand at some poker.  It was surprisingly easy to pick up the rules and we pretty much just learnt as we went along.  It was good fun trying out our poker faces, and as we were playing with chips it sort of felt a bit like we were playing for real money so we got a bit competitive!

We also played another couple of board games including Pointless (my favourite!) and Friends: Scene It, during which I annoyed/freaked everyone out with my crazy Friends knowledge (yeah needless to say I won that one!).

As well as pizza and wine I'd also made milkbubbletea's Creme Egg Surprise Cupcakes which went down very well (not sure if anyone managed to get to sleep after all that sugar though!).  All in all it was a great night, and we're already planning our next one!
