Winter Beauty Favourites

Tuesday, 20 November 2012

I did a series of favourites posts in the summer but never got round to doing any in autumn, so here's my winter faves!

This is my current fave mascara - I bought it after reading about it on Zoella's blog as it looked great in her photos and it was on offer at half price (still is!).  It gives my lashes great length and volume, and isn't clumpy or drying at all.  Also it builds to a great "false lash" like finish.  In my opinion it's just as good as Benefit They're Real, and is £10 cheaper!

I wrote a full review on this a few months back which you can read here.  I've been using this a lot recently as the chilly weather is making my lips really dry, so I've been scrubbing them with this most nights.  It helps get rid of the dry skin and also tastes amazing (did I mention that you can lick it off....?!).

I got this little bottle in a Glossybox earlier this year (I don't subscribe any more) but I've only started using it recently as it's perfect for giving my skin a moisture boost now that we're getting into winter.  During the day I use the Clarins Daily Energizer Cream-Gel but I've been using this at night instead as a more intensive treatment.  It's actually a really light formula which is perfect for my oily/combination skin as it doesn't sit on my skin for too long and means I don't go to bed with a sticky face which just ends up rubbing off on my pillow.

I've been a big fan of Aussie conditioners for years and this is my current favourite.  The Miracle Shine conditioner contains Australian Ginseng and pearl powder and as with all Aussie products it smells amazing.  It leaves my hair silky smooth and lovely and shiny - I love it.

Pretty much every beauty blogger out there has been raving about this for weeks and touting it as the holy grail of skincare products.  I wouldn't go as far as that, but I do really like this.  As directed, I've been using it every second night after cleansing - sweeping it across my face on a cotton pad just before bed.  In the morning my face looks really refreshed - like I've used a face mask - and it feels really soft and smooth.  I've only been using it for about a month and I haven't noticed an improvement in skin tone (I get quite a bit of redness of my cheeks) or blemishes, but I'm going to keep using it as I've heard so many good things that I think it might just need a bit more time.

I think this is the best makeup purchase I've made this year - I use it pretty much every day!  There is a gorgeous mix of matte and shimmery colours, with a selection of pretty neutrals (those on the left) as well as a couple of more going-out type colours (those on the right), and they all blend really well together.

As you can probably tell from the photo below the colours I use most often are champagne and kitten for day to day wear, and then for a more dramatic look I layer this with the bronze shade (sunset) and occasionally some of the other darker colours (like night sky - the blue) to create a smoky eye.

I bought this after seeing Louise chat about it on one of her videos - I'd been thinking about buying an eyeshadow palette for ages and was originally planning on going for the Urban Decay Naked palette but the Stila one was about £10 cheaper so I thought I'd try that instead.  I still lust after Naked occasionally, but I'm very happy with my Stila one for now.

  1. I've never been into Lush and had a sniff, but i've read that the Bubblegum lip scrub smells a bit like Snow fairy?
If so i must get it.
I'm also a big fan of that Stila palette. I have blogged about it.
    Great blogging post and favourites.
