Yves Rocher Pure System Skincare

Monday, 10 September 2012
A few weeks ago I bought a mascara from Yves Rocher through their official website, and at the checkout stage I was asked to pick a free gift.  I went for their Pure System skincare starter kit (can't remember what the other option was) and I've been so impressed with it I thought I'd write a review!

The kit contained mini bottles of a Daily Exfoliating Cleanser, Clarifying Toner, and Stop Blemish Lotion.  I've since finished the cleanser but I've still got plenty of the toner and lotion left despite me using them twice a day for almost two weeks - I can't believe they haven't run out yet!

First up, the Daily Exfoliating Cleanser.  As the name would suggest this is a cleanser/exfoliator so has a gritty texture to it.  I was surprised at how orange it was - I was just expecting the usual white/creamy colour but it's a very bright orange (a bit like the REN Glycolactic Mask) and has a nice fruity scent.  It contains salyclic acid which helps effectively target blemishes and acne, but also contains aloe vera so there's a soothing effect to counterbalance the acidity.  Like I said, it has quite a gritty texture to it but it doesn't feel too harsh or rough on the skin.  It left my skin looking and feeling really smooth and refreshed.

Next up, the Clarifying Toner.  This has a sort of gel texture which I found really weird at first - I always think of a toner as being water based so the first time I poured some on a cotton pad I was like "whaaa?".  It leaves your skin feeling really fresh though, and dries really quickly which again I didn't expect from a gel.  I think I'm going to keep the rest of the bottle now and use it for travelling (I've got a weekend away at the start of October so it will be perfect for then).

Lastly, the Stop Blemish Lotion.  Texture wise this feels a little bit like the Clarins Daily Energizer Cream-Gel in that it's quite light and gel-like.  It sinks into the skin really quickly which is great as I hate waiting around for creams to dry on my face, especially when I'm getting ready in the morning.

My skin has been going through a bad spell recently- I seem to have a lot more spots than normal - but it's been slowly getting better in the last few weeks  Now I'm not sure how influential this lotion (or the Yves Rocher range in general) has been in that as I've also been using a REN cleanser and various REN masks - but I certainly feel like my skin looks and feels really nice after I've used this trio.

I'd definitely recommend giving this range a try if you're on the lookout for some new skin products - at the moment I'm still a REN devotee so I'm not sure if I will purchase the full size version of the Yves Rocher products, but I have been really impressed with this wee set!  Also I had a look at the website to check the prices of the fullsize bottles and they are surprisingly cheap at around £9, and the cleanser and lotion are both currently on offer at 50% off!
