Paris Planning

Next month B and I are going on a 4 night break to Paris and I CAN'T WAIT!!  I've been to Paris a few times, but this will be B's first visit and I'm super excited that I get to share one of my favourite cities in the world with my most favourite person in the world :)

I'm one of those people that likes to plan everything down to a tee when it comes to holidays (I've even got a plan of action already written down for my 3 night girls weekend at Alton Towers in October - saaaaaaad!) - so as you can imagine I have been in my element doing Paris research to come up with 5 days of fun for us.

I'm not going to give away our entire holiday plans (you'll have to wait for the photos when we get back!), but here's a quick list of 10 things I'm hoping to do.

10 Things I Want to Do in Paris

1) Go up the Eiffel Tower

I've done this twice before - once when I was on a school trip and once with an ex-boyfriend -but the last time was like 7 or 8 years ago so I can't even really remember what it was like (in my head I keep getting it confused with trips up the Blackpool Tower, which is really not the same at all!).

2) Take a walk along the Seine at night

3) Eat steak & frites

4) Put a "love padlock" on a bridge

Tradition goes that you are to carve your initials in a padlock, chain it to the bridge and then throw the key in the river to symbolise your eternal love.  Awwww.

5) Visit Disneyland Paris

I've been here once before in the year 2000 when I was on a school trip but it's so much bigger now (2 parks!) so I can't wait to visit!!!  I don't think B shares my enthusiasm......

6) Drink cocktails at a fancy schmancy hotel

We aren't staying at a fancy schamncy hotel (we're not made of money!) but one of my clients at work is a gorgeous 5 star hotel so we'll be popping there for drinks one night, pretending we're the rich and famous.

7) Visit the Alice in Wonderland-esque Jardin des Plantes

8) Spy some Space Invader art

*Discovered this blog the other day - it is brilliant!  Full of lots of great tips for places to see and things to do in Paris, from an American living in the city.

9) Take silly posed pictures on top of the striped columns at the Jardins Palais Royal

10) Try visit the Musee des Arts Forains to see the cool old funfair rides (if it's open!)

This place looks seriously amazing, but unfortunately it only seems to open a few times a year so it's probably unlikely we'll be able to visit during our trip - but I can but hope!

Have you been to Paris?  Do you have any tips for me on unusual/quirky things to see and do outwith the usual touristy places?
