When I had my last hair appointment (and went purple) my salon was having a closing down sale so all their products were buy 1 get 1 free.  They mainly sell Tigi products so I decided to take advantage of the offer and bought the TIGI Bed Head Candy Fixations Sugar Shock spray as I'd actually almost bought this earlier in the month when I was picking up stuff at Escentual.com - I'd had it in my basket but then changed my mind at the last minute as I decided I had spent too much already and didn't really need it.  As my second product I went for the Tigi Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo as I'd just recently finished a bottle of the Umberto Giannini one and hadn't been that impressed with it so was in need of a new one.

Now I'm a bit torn with what to write in this post....the first time I used it I was really impressed - it smelled lovely and didn't have that "dry shampoo" smell that you normally get, also it gave me great volume at the roots and left my hair looking freshly washed - so big thumbs up!  The second time I used it the results were the same, so far so good.  However, then it all went weird....

A week passed before I needed to use it again - picture the scene:  it's 20 past 8 in the morning, I've put my make up on, got dressed, straightened my slightly greasy hair and just need to give my roots a quick blast with dry shampoo before I head out the door.  I go to my cosmetics drawer, pick up the can....and it's empty!  Or it feels empty anyway - I shake it and it feels like there is one big lump of something in there, but nothing is coming out when I try to spray.  So I'm stuck with slightly greasy hair, 5 minutes before I need to get my bus, and an empty can of brand new dry shampoo - argh!  I ended up having to just pull my hair into a ponytail and then went off to work in a huff.

I'm totally confused though as to what has happened here - it was left in my drawer on its side (I've read the can and it doesn't say anywhere in the instructions that is has to be stored in an upright position - so if that IS why it's all congealed then it should be written as a warning on the can!) at a normal room temperature.  It definitely hadn't leaked out either as there was nothing in the lid or in the drawer.  Also, it definitely hasn't been used by anyone else as the only other person in my flat is B and I'm pretty sure he doesn't even know what dry shampoo is!

Has this happened to anyone else before with dry shampoo?  I think I'm going to write to Tigi as I'm pretty miffed!  Also, I'm now obviously on the lookout for a new dry shampoo - does anyone have any recommendations?  Should I just go back to good old Batiste?!

Update: Well top marks to Tigi - I emailed them and they got back straight away to confirm there had been a fault with a batch of these products and some had been sent out to salons before they had a chance to recall them. They are going to send me out a replacement (an updated version called Sessions Series Dry Shampoo) so I look forward to trying that one out when it arrives - look out for a review shortly!
